okay once again y'all misinterpreting the story, the 'duckling' was considered ugly because he wasn't a duck, he was a swanling. even growing up into the what is deemed by humans mind you, a beautiful bird; the ducks still didn't accept him. he didn't get acceptance until he found a family of fellow swans. the moral of the story isn't 'have hope if you're a child bullied for your looks that you might grow up conventionally attractive', the moral is that you may never be accepted by those that other you/deem you unworthy due to your outside appearance and to try and seek comfort in community of those like you.
LAPD detonated 5000 lbs of fireworks in the middle of a residential area, injuring at least 17 people and causing $900 million in various damages in a low-income, majority-POC neighborhood.
They then continue to pursue caging the person whose fireworks they stole while news media misreports to cover for police incompetency and destruction.

![a screenshot of what hozier said the song eat your young is about. it says “I don’t know how intentional the reference to Jonathan Swift was in this. That essay [Swift’s 1729 satirical essay A Modest Proposal in which he suggests the Irish poor sell their children as food] is such a cultural landmark that it’s just hanging in the air. I was more reflecting on what I felt now in this spirit of the times of perpetual short-term gain and a long-term blindness. The increasing levels of precarious living, poverty, job insecurity, rental crisis, property crisis, climate crisis, and a generation that’s inheriting all of that and one generation that’s enjoyed the spoils of it. The lyrics are direct, but the voice is playful. There’s this unreliable narrator who relishes in this thing which was fun to write.”](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5513446542757aab44ed1ea8e1ada450/6fb2be2459b285bf-83/s1280x1920/783c7c61098b21a2b5369d1f1c249222fad30386.jpg)
